Back to hockey

When I applied for a student job at my current employer - about 6 yrs ago - I came with a nice black eye resulting from a crash during inline hockey practise. About 1 yr later, I gave up on coaching two classes, citing time reasons.

After some significant private emotions, come and gone back pains on Friday, I went up the attic on Saturday, went through three huge bags of sports equipment and emerged with a still too heavy back filled with skates (inline), protection and several jerseys.

Sunday morning I went to the gym hall near Berliner Tor in Hamburg, put on my equipment (struggling a bit with the right order) and found out, that at least the leg movement was pretty much still there. Hand movement too, which means that my finishing touch was as bad as ever. What was not there was any kind of stamina in my inner leg muscels, needed to push off with each stride. It still hurts today. Also absent the general conditioning needed for longer shifts. It went so far that at one point I just gave up, fearing I’d collaps if my heart rate kept up that high - I wonder why hockey gets it up so good while cycling I can’t get to raise it at all…

I’ll be back!
